Microsoft wants to shrink IE6′s marketing share

Microsoft has released the “browser who doesn’t want to die” 11 years ago.

With this occasion Microsoft has released a little websites called theie6countdown.com. A website that can monitor the market share of IE6 while it keeps going down.
Microsoft says that this is a demonstration of their commitment to lower the market share of IE6 while it still holds 12%.

Microsoft’s goal is to achieve a reduction in the use IE6 to less than 1%
They say that if I can do this, web designers will not provide support for this old browser.
Microsoft encourages sites to place ads for IE6 users upgrade, as part of this effort. Since many users are stuck on IE6 because it blocked the computer from the office, Microsoft is also trying to reach IT professionals to help upgrades.

These are good news, right?
